We are an organization founded in 1985 in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona), at a time when Spain only had references in men’s artistic gymnastics, such as Joaquín Blume, while internationally, iconic figures of women’s artistic gymnastics like Nadia Comaneci stood out.
From the very beginning, the club has offered the opportunity to practice women’s artistic gymnastics, and for years now, also the discipline of trampoline, at all levels. Women’s sports are growing, becoming stronger, and promoting them benefits us all as a society.
The club's first steps were taken at the gym in the old Plaça de les Moreres, now home to the current Municipal Sports Center. It was our home from the foundation until around 2009, and we had around 80 gymnasts. It was a small space, but full of enthusiasm and commitment.
During the construction of the current gym, we temporarily moved to a warehouse, which was considerably larger but had significant shortcomings in terms of equipment and climate control. Still, we continued to work with effort and perseverance, overcoming logistical challenges.
Before being able to enjoy the current facility, this transition period showed the strength of our sporting and human project.
Convinced of the educational value of sport as a tool for personal development and quality of life, we work to reach as many girls as possible, regardless of their age, category, or competitive level.
With 40 years of history, the club has experienced continuous growth. Little by little, we have grown both athletically and in facilities and number of gymnasts, becoming a national reference in the world of artistic gymnastics and trampoline.
Throughout all these years, we have had gymnasts who have trained at high-performance centers, such as the CAR of Sant Cugat, with athletes like Sara Cusó, Laura Menéndez, Hannah Willee, or Carlota Rodríguez, and the CAR of Madrid, with gymnasts like Alba Petisco, Alba Bonilla, Mar Guardiet, or Paula Raya. Some of them have competed with the Spanish national team in World Championships, European Championships, and even the Olympic Games, a source of great pride that motivates us to keep working with the same passion and dedication.
In addition, our trampoline section has also propelled outstanding gymnasts to the CAR of Sant Cugat, starting with our first coach, Alejandro Milán, who competed in World Championships as a gymnast and is now the head coach of the national team, having taken Spanish gymnasts for the first time to the Olympic Games. Notable gymnasts such as Lea Asensio and Albert Cid are also part of the Spanish national team and have competed in major international events.
The Les Moreres Gymnastics Pavilion, located in the heart of Esplugues de Llobregat, was inaugurated in May 2012 and is currently home to all the city’s sports clubs, including the Club Gimnàstica Esplugues Les Moreres.
This modern sports complex features three distinct training areas, one of which is our own: an 800 m² artistic gymnastics and trampoline gym, fully equipped for technical training. Most of our federated-level groups train here, working every day to reach their sporting goals.
Just a few steps away, we also have La Mallola hall, a cozy and fully equipped space specially designed for beginner activities, where young gymnasts can take their first steps in a motivating environment.
And for our youngest athletes, we use the multi-sport hall at Isidre Martí, the perfect space for our baby gym sessions. It’s a calm, safe, and fun environment where children can explore the world of gymnastics through play and movement.
